Maidir Linn – About
I mí Iúil 2022, chuireamar tús le bunú Bród na Gaeltachta (BnaG), Féile Ealaíon Phobail LGBTQIA+ agus paráid Bród – an chéad cheann dá leithéid in aon Ghaeltacht tuaithe in Éirinn. Arna reáchtáil i suíomh álainn na bhFál Carrach, bhí ár gcéad Fhéile BnaG ina nóiméad cinniúnach ní hamháin don phobal Gaeilge ach freisin do na pobail bhríomhara Aeracha in Éirinn agus thar lear. Tharraing an imeacht seo aird idirnáisiúnta forleathan, ag déanamh tonnta i bhfoilseacháin agus i meáin Ghaeilge.
Le tacaíocht airgeadais ó eintitis ar nós Chomhairle Contae Dhún na nGall (DCC), Ealaín na Gaeltachta (EnaG), agus Údarás na Gaeltachta (ÚnaG), fuair BnaG aitheantas mar cheann de na Tionscnaimh Pobail is Nuálaí 2022, ainmniúchán bronnta go bródúil ag Comhlacht Forbartha Áitiúil Dhún na nGall (DLDC). I mí Feabhra 2023, bhronn Éigse Éireann duais ceann de na ceithre dhámhachtain Bright Ideas Project Fund ar BnaG do Lá na Filíochta in Éirinn.
I mí Iúil 2023, d’fhill féile BnaG le raic, le lineup iontach d’imeachtaí a bhain amach teideal Imeacht na Bliana ag GALA LGBTQ+ i mí Dheireadh Fómhair 2023. Tá an coiste eagrúcháin do fhéile 2024 comhdhéanta de ghrúpa éagsúil den phobal aerach, ealaíontóirí gairmiúla, taibheoirí, craoltóirí, ceoltóirí, agus oibrithe forbartha pobail, aontaithe ag an bhfís chomhroinnte le clár 2024 a sheachadadh nach bhfuil a leithéid ag aon fhéile eile. Déanfaidh féile na bliana seo iniúchadh ar smaointe maidir le díchoilíniú, cruthaitheacht aerach a chothú, ionchuimsiú, agus ceiliúradh laistigh de na pobail LGBTQIA+ agus Gaeilge.
n July of 2022, we spearheaded the establishment of Bród na Gaeltachta (BnaG), a groundbreaking LGBTQIA+ Community Arts Festival and Bród (Pride) parade – the first of its kind in any rural Gaeltacht in Ireland. Set against the scenic backdrop of Falcarragh, our inaugural BnaG Festival marked a pivotal moment not only for the Gaeilge-speaking community but also for the vibrant Queer communities both in Ireland and beyond. The event garnered widespread international attention, making waves in Irish language publications and media outlets.
Securing financial backing from entities like Donegal County Council (DCC), Ealaín na Gaeltachta (EnaG), and Údarás na Gaeltachta (ÚnaG), BnaG gained recognition as one of the top Most Innovative Community Initiatives of 2022, a nomination proudly bestowed by the Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC). Fast forward to February 2023, and Poetry Ireland honored BnaG with 1 of 4 Bright Ideas Project Fund awards for Poetry Day Ireland.Come July 2023, the BnaG festival made a triumphant return, boasting an exceptional lineup of events that would later clinch the coveted Event of the Year title at the LGBTQ+ GALA’s in October 2023. The 2024 festival organising collective comprises a diverse group of the queer community, professionals artists, performers, broadcasters, musicians, and community development workers, all united by the shared vision of delivering a 2024 programme unlike other festivals, delving into ideas of declonisation, fostering queer creativity, inclusivity, and celebration within the LGBTQIA+ and Gaeilge-speaking communities.
